Madekwe came from a multi-cultural household. She was born within South London. The mother of her child is English and her father is Nigerian. She was raised in the South London Council Estate, and then went to The Brit School aged 14. She studied acting in The Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, London. In her time at the school, she performed in several stage productions, including the King Henry V's Princess Katherine or Wuthering Heights.
Madekwe began her acting career through the film Storm Damage. Over the past few years, Madekwe has appeared in Teachers as well as Doctors. Madekwe scored her first motion picture in the 2007 Woody Allen movie Cassandra's Dream, opposite Colin Farrell and Ewan McGregor. Her popularity resulted in her being cast as Elisha in a one-off BBC Three drama West 10 LDN pilot. She then appeared in six episodes Trexx and Flipside as Ollie. Madekwe also played the main character on How to lose friends & betray people and be apathetic, which premiered on Sony Pictures Entertainment back in the year 2008. Madekwe's US debut was in 2009 when she appeared on The thriller The Beautiful Life. The series aired only two episodes prior to being removed from The CW. Ashley Davenport was her role in the ABC drama Revenge. In May of 2013, it was revealed that Madekwe who had played a regular role in the two previous seasons, would be leaving the show following a guest appearance in the first episode of the new season. Ashley Leggat grew up in Hamilton Ontario with a huge family. Her parents, Roy and Patty along with her brothers Brett, Todd, and Bram, were all present. Ashley's siblings, who are all athletic, played in the summer months and play hockey during winter. Ashley couldn't walk, however she was able to dance. As a result, when she turned 2 when she was two, she began to learn about Baby Ballet. Ashley was enthralled by dance immediately after that. Ashley was a top competitor in divisions of tap, jazz ballet, hip hop, Acrobatics, Lyrical Musical Theatre and pointe, until she finished high school. Ashley was awarded the best soloist at each of the major dance competitions including, International Dance Challenge, Showstoppers 5-7-8 Showtime, Flash Dance, and Dance, Dance, Dance to name a few.
